Kenmare Athletic Club reformed in 2009 after an absence of more than 10 years. They currently have 250 registered juvenile and master athletes and are now one of the biggest clubs in the county.

The Club compete in cross country, track and field events and have held the Kerry Juvenile Cross Country Shield five times.

In 2015 the club was the overall winners at the County Track and Field Championships by just 1 point and followed this in March 2016 by winning the overall title at the County Development Indoor Games, again by a very small margin, 4 points that time. Kenmare AC were the overall winners at the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Kerry Community Games Athletics.

For adults we run regular coach to 5km programmes for beginners and welcome adult members of all ages and abilities.

It has been said that Kenmare (pronounced 'ken-mair') is the thinking person's Killarney. The Town is located at the head of Kenmare Bay (where it reaches the farthest inland), sometimes called the Kenmare River, where the Roughty River flows into the sea, and at the junction of the Iveragh Peninsula and the Beara Peninsula.

Ideally positioned for exploring the Ring of Kerry (and the Beara Peninsula). Kenmare is a pretty little town with a neat triangle of streets lined with craft shops, galleries, cafes and good quality restaurants.

If you don`t partake of the run you can always enjoy walking around this beautiful town.
