The Castlerosse Golf Club is a 9 hole, par 36 parkland course near the centre of Killarney town. Set on mature parkland, it has majestic views across Lough Leane, Killarney’s Lower Lake and the Macgillicuddy Reeks, Ireland’s highest mountains.
It adjoins Killarney National Park on one side and Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, venue for the 2010 and 2011 Irish Open, on the other.
The golf shop and locker rooms are located right beside the 20-meter swimming pool and fitness centre at the Castlerosse Hotel with Mulligan’s Pub overlooking the course providing an attractive and unique atmosphere.
The Castlerosse Golf Course combines the sublime scenery with a good test for golfers of all standards. The Castlerosse Golf Club is GUI & ILGU affiliated.
The 3,000-yard course was designed by Harry Wallace and opened in 2000. Its dramatic elevation changes lend themselves to challenging golf and stunning views. Castlerosse Hotel & Golf Resort itself was built in 1960 by Beatrice Grosvenor, heir to Sir Valentine Browne, who arrived in the Killarney area in 1587.
Today the Castlerosse Hotel occupies the same setting enjoyed by generations of viscounts and earls on what was the last portion of the great Kenmare Estate in the private ownership of the Browne family.
Designed to the highest standards it has 9 fully irrigated USGA standard greens plus a practice green and provides a worthy test for golfers of all levels.
The golf shop and locker rooms are located right beside the 20-meter swimming pool and fitness centre at the Castlerosse Hotel. Mulligan’s Pub, overlooks the course, provides a range of snacks and light meals all day, in an attractive atmosphere.
Ideal for people who want a quick a few holes, or for those warming up for stiffer tests at the adjoining Killarney Golf and Fishing Club.
Castlerosse has an Open Fourball every Wednesday from May to September.
