Castlecove, in Irish it is “Cuan an Chaisleáin”. Castlecove  is part of the Ring of Kerry, a small village in County Kerry, Ireland, located on the Iveragh Peninsula on the N70 road approximately 6km to the east of Caherdaniel and 15km to the south west of Sneem overlooking Derrynane Bay.

Castlecove or should I say "Cuan an Chaisleáin" means the same as "Castlecove", but the officially recognised Irish name for the town is "An Siopa Dubh"which translates to The Black Shop, the only pub in the village . There is also a post office, a church and a café/surf shop.

The Village is a unique, traditional rural village full of activities and events such as St. Cohan’s Festival each July.

It is home to fine sandy beaches and the coastline has created natural rock pools with exquisite sandy coves dotted underneath the cliffs. Its pristine and ecological harmony won Castlecove an award at the World Environmental Oscars.

The Kerry Way runs along the North of the village. During the summer a number of visitors use the local beaches. Nearby are the imposing ruins of Staigue Fort, one of Ireland's finest archaeological sites.

Staigue Fort exhibition centre is located to the west of the settlement on the road leading to Staigue Fort. The exhibition centre also has a pub and café. There is a camping site to the west of the village.

There is no formal amenity area in Castlecove. The River Staigue provides an opportunity to provide amenity areas adjacent to it and along its banks.

Westcove pier is a beautiful inlet from where you can moor your boat. Or catch up on a spot of fishing for the dinner.

O'Carrolls Cove Beach Bar is on the beach.

Thank god for Castlecove :)

Reviewed 5 August 20108 of us cycling around the ring of Kerry. We were very well looked after despite the very short notice we gave the family. Breakfast was huge and lovely. Friendly bars near by and a beautiful beach too. Strongly recomended as its about half way around the ring of kerry.

Thank You from the Hack men :)
