Kerry Airport terminal is located around 18Km from Killarney and 20Km from Tralee. There are no rail connections in the airport terminal. There is a bus support from outside the main door that is operated by Bus Eireann.

On the 25th August 1969 the very first aircraft landed at Kerry Airport. For a number of years afterwards only light private aircrafts, and also the odd charter and cargo flight operated in the international airport.

Then in July 1979 the really first scheduled flight landed into Kerry Airport terminal using an aircraft operated by Aer Arran. More than the many years, because of growing achievement, the airport was increased in size, and as an outcome a brand new and bigger runway and terminal was built.

On 22nd May 1989 the first scheduled flight landed at Kerry Airport's new runway and so Kerry was ready for that world. Additional function was carried out at Farranfore with a new runway in May 1994.

Kerry Airport has certainly moved with the times and continues to develop into a larger and better international airport.

I remember flying into Farranfore on a Ryan Air flight a few years back. I was sitting by the window, next to me was a gentleman going back to Dingle from London and on the aisle seat was a pompous priest.

After the plane was airborne, drink orders were taken. The Dingle man asked for an Irish whiskey. The attendant placed the drink on his tray and then asked the priest if he would like a drink. The priest replied in disgust," I'd rather be savagely ravaged by brazen hussies than let alcohol touch my lips." The Dingle man then handed his drink back to the attendant and said "Me too. I didn't know we had a choice!"
