Ballylongford Festivals

Custom Search

There are two distinct Ballylongford Festivals.

The Brendan Kennelly Summer Festival.

On the 9th of August this year, so you had better get your skates on otherwise you will miss it, Brendan Kennelly will be officially opening his inaugural Summer Festival in Ballylongford.

The Brendan Kennelly Summer Festival is regarded as one of Irelands most popular literary and cultural events, it will have a truly International appeal of the work of Brendan Kennelly and modern performing and visual arts. Poetry, workshops, theatre, music, dance, expeditions, historical walks and children’s events all feature.

The Oyster Festival

The second major Ballylongford Festival is the Oyster Festival and, as mentioned on the main page, a most enjoyable weekend indeed. Appreciate the flavour of the most luscious oysters in the whole of Ireland given away free, washed down by the best pints of Guinness.

There is music in most pubs, a seafood extravaganza in the village hall, dancing and numerous other entertainments.

The Oyster Festival is held on the third weekend in September, usually just before the Listowel Races but sometimes overlaps. See you there.
